Graduation 2018

Two MBA Marshals

Two MBA students received the honor of graduation marshal and led MBA students in the commencement processional.  Keith Tanner (left) represented the Peoria Cohort program and Bill Blue (right) represented the Springfield campus.  Both students completed their MBA degrees with a 4.0 GPA.

Congratulations to Captain Allison Cline who completed her MBA course work on weekends in Peoria. Allison is a medical Administrative Officer in the Air National Guard 182nd Airlift Wing in Peoria. Veterans and military personnel were recognized at the UIS commencement with red, white and blue cords.

In attendance to support Allison was her boyfriend, Josh, who is a Flight Surgeon with the Air National Guard and a Hospitalist in Galesburg.

Judy Zhu’s GPSI Supervisor Wins Annual Award

Judy and her supervisor.Each year Graduate Public Service Internship (GPSI) students nominate supervisors to receive the Sagarika Madala Memorial Award for Exemplary Leadership.  The 2018 award winner, recognized at the annual GPSI breakfast, was Lori Sorenson of the Department of Innovation & Technology (DoIt), supervisor to MBA student Judy Zhu.  Read comments from Judy’s nomination.

UIS Students Win 2018 SAM Case Competition

UIS won first place in the Open Division Collegiate Management Case Competition organized by the Society for Advancement of Management (SAM).  It was their first time to participate as a UIS SAM chapter.

The team included Adella Nguyen, MBA student and GPSI intern at the Office of Rapid Results in the Department of Central Management Services.  Adella is also one of the founders of the UIS SAM Chapter, started in August 2017.  Read more about Adella and the SAM competition.
