Leo Bin Named
PNC Distinguished Professor

Dr. Leo Bin teaches BUS 502–Managerial Finance and BUS 505–Investments.

MBA professor Leo Bin was awarded a large medallion in on honor of his new title, PNC Distinguished Professor in Banking and Finance.  The endowment will provide Dr. Bin significant financial support to conduct research and other scholarly activities.

Dr. Bin’s published scholarship focuses on financial analysis and international investment, especially related to risks.  Some of his research is first in its field, such as investment group decision efficiency and risk-return effectiveness as simulated in the StockTrak portfolio management program and the risk-return association for U.S. gaming industry stocks.

Ranjan Karri Receives

Dr. Ranjan Karri teaches BUS 583–Business Strategy and MGT 556–Entrepreneurial Finance.

Ranjan Karri, associate professor of management, has been presented with the 2018 Spencer Faculty Service Award.  Honoring Robert Spencer, founding president of Sangamon State University, this award recognizes faculty who best exemplify the ideal of the “professor-citizen” through public service and service to the academic community.

At UIS, Dr. Karri has been a member of and active leader on numerous campus committees.  He has chaired eight UIS committees such as Graduate Council, the Promotions Committee, and Sabbatical and Awards Committee.  Locally he has been involved with a reorganization plan for the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Museum and strategic planning for the Lincoln Public Library.
