Assurance of Student Learning Day

2nd Annual Assurance of Student Learning (Half) Day Event Friday October 23, 2020 1-4 PM. PAC C/D

Second Annual Assurance of Learning (Half) Day is scheduled for Friday October 23, 2020 from 1-4 PM. Location: PAC C/D. Remote attendance via Zoom will also be available.

We will have short presentations on the importance of assessment but most of the time will be devoted to table discussions addressing three important assessment areas: 1. identifying learning outcomes and curriculum mapping; 2. collecting data; and 3. analyzing data. Each table will be led by a faculty member who will facilitate the discussion and also share their experiences, positive and negative, in assuring that our students are learning. For anyone new to assessment, we will have a separate “Assessment 101” session where we will clarify terms and expectations.

Contact Nancy Barrett, Assessment and Accreditation Coordinator, Office of Institutional Effectiveness, for more information.

This event is co-sponsored by the Committee on the Assessment of Student Learning (CASL), the Faculty Development Resource Office and the Office of Institutional Effectiveness.

Assurance of Student Learning Day 3/29/19

UIS’s 2019 first annual Assurance of Learning Day was held March 29, 2019. The purpose of this session was to introduce UIS’ Assurance of Student Learning initiatives with a goal of developing an academic culture of data-informed continuous improvement, with a day to be set aside each fall for programs to assure student learning.
