Assurance of Learning
UIS fulfills its mission and realizes its vision by promoting a culture of continuous improvement and maintains accreditation by engaging in regular and systematic assessment of student learning. Evidence of student learning is documented by establishing student learning outcomes, creating assessment plans, implementing those plans to measure student learning, with programmatic decisions based on the resulting aggregated data. Finally, student strengths and areas for improvement are assessed and strategies identified to promote student learning.
The Campus Senate Committee on the Assessment of Student Learning (CASL) is responsible for reviewing UIS’ experience with assessment of baccalaureate skills, assessment of general education, assessment of graduate education, and assessment in the major.
