Women’s Soccer

Faculty member: Carol Saltsgaver, MS, Clinical Instructor, Mathematical Sciences

Teaching mathematics at UIS for the past 13 years has given me the opportunity to not only teach, but also to get to know many UIS student-athletes. When I was approached by a member of the UIS Women’s soccer team to be their faculty partner, I felt honored. For many years, my husband and I were recreational soccer coaches. We learned to love and appreciate the game of soccer and have gone to many UIS women’s soccer games over the years.  I have seen the transition of the UIS athletic program going from NAIA to NCAA Division II and have been impressed by the direction that the team is taking. The ability to balance academics, athletics, and life, in general, is difficult. I admire the athletes on the team with their ability to dedicate themselves to both their academic and athletic pursuits. Hopefully, I can be the team “soccer mom” and live up to the team expectations.

Coach: Erin Egolf, Head Coach, Women’s Soccer

Having a specific faculty member that knows the sport and is willing to support our players is wonderful. This program definitely bridges the gap between our sport and faculty members. We are excited to work with Carol, and appreciate her willingness to get involved with our team!
