John Malone

Bio: John Malone currently serves as an Associate Professor of Communication at Lincoln College. He is also the Division Chair for Fine Arts and Communication, overseeing the departments of Theatre, Music, Dance, Art, and Radio/TV. In addition, he is the Lead Faculty for the Radio, Television, and New Media baccalaureate program at the College, and is General Manager of WLNX-FM and LCTV, the student-operated radio and television stations at the College. John joined Lincoln College in 2004 when the institution was still a private junior college offering only Associates degrees. He developed the two-year transfer academic program in radio broadcasting. Once the College expanded primarily into a baccalaureate degree granting institution, he authored the Radio, Television, and New Media degree and gained approval from the Higher Learning Commission to begin offering coursework for the new degree in the fall of 2016. So far, the program has graduated six students. In addition, John also has served on the steering committee for Lincoln College’s reaccreditation in 2013. He has also served as Chair of the Faculty Committee for three separate terms.

Relevant Professional Experience: Program Director of WMBD-AM in Peoria, Illinois, from 1999-2004. Prior, served as Operations Manager of WTAZ-FM in Peoria, from 1996-1999; and WBYS in Canton, Illinois, from 1994-1996. Prior stops in on-air capacities for WXCL-FM, WIRL-AM, and WSWT-FM in Peoria, Illinois, and at WFXW-AM in Geneva, Illinois. Began working in radio in 1987.

Research Interests: Broadcast history and regulation
