Professor Emeritus Manley Mallard earned a Bachelor of Music Education from Shenandoah College and Conservatory of Music in Winchester, Virginia, where he studied classical guitar with Dr. Glenn Caluda. He later earned a Master of Music Education degree from Kent State University in Kent, Ohio, and a Master of Music in Jazz Studies from Webster University in St. Louis. From 1987 – 2016 he taught classical and jazz guitar, guitar ensemble, guitar pedagogy, jazz combos, and music technology at Millikin University until his retirement in 2016. He currently is an Adjunct instructor at Lincoln Land Community College and the University of Illinois at Springfield and is Owner/Editor of Guitar Chamber Music Press, a publisher of guitar solo and ensemble works.
