Make a Difference for Students Who Take Advantage of Recreational Opportunities

Campus Recreational Sports Fund

Provides general support for recreational activities at UIS.

Student Recreation Center Fund

UIS’ excellent recreation facility serves students in general by giving them a place for fitness, physical competition, and enjoyment. It also serves UIS’ athletics teams that practice and compete in the Arena. This Fund supports equipment, supplies, upkeep, and more, helping to keep the facility up to date, safe, and effective.

How important IS recreation?

According to the National Intramural-Recreational Sports Association, students who take part in recreational sports are more likely to stay in college, gain success, and express satisfaction in their college experience.

Life just seems better after a little exercise, some fun with friends, and a healthy mental break from challenges like algebraic equations and the intricacies
of Jungian psychology.

You can help students have access to this healthy outlet by giving to the Campus Recreational Sports Fund.

For fun and health

We have lots of options for students at UIS. They can lift weights and exercise in our Fitness Center or check out equipment like canoes and tennis rackets for some informal fun. They can also sign up for intramural leagues in badminton, flag football, sand volleyball, and many other sports.

Learning for Life

In our non-credit clinics, workshops, and clubs, students can develop lifetime fitness and leisure skills through activities like tennis, fencing, yoga, kickbox aerobics, and golf. And for students who just need to get away for a while, we have off-campus day and weekend excursions for hiking, ice skating, professional sports games, and other events.

Please give generously so we can continue to help students—and faculty and staff—relieve stress, stay healthy, and have some fun.
