Message from Interim Vice Chancellor Dr. Van Vieregge: To Students

May 27, 2020

Dear UIS Students,

Thank you for your cooperation and patience as we continue responding to the coronavirus outbreak and Gov. Pritzker’s stay-at-home order and Restore Illinois plan.

I am writing today to inform you that student accounts will be updated to reflect financial adjustments for the full amount of the summer Student Union Fee and also the full amount of the summer TRAC Fee since those facilities are not open for regular student use this summer.  This will be reflected on your student account by June 19, 2020 after the June billing occurs. Therefore, please check your student account often during the month of June before the summer tuition due date of June 28th.

It is important to note that students who received institutional financial aid this semester in support of university student fees will be reviewed on an individual basis to determine adjustment amounts. Also, adjustments will first be applied to any outstanding balances within the university before a refund is issued. Please ensure you are enrolled in direct deposit to receive student account refunds. Direct deposit is the electronic transfer of funds into a checking or a savings account. It is the quickest, safest, and most efficient way of receiving your student account refunds. Please visit additional information and enrollment instructions. If you have any questions, please contact the University Bursar at

Please remain safe and remember to keep shining, Prairie Stars!
