Challenge #1 – The Learning Hub

Do you know the UIS Learning Hub is part of the Center for Academic Success and provides services and resources to students seeking academic support?

Details:

  • fill-in the blank game;
  • provides information as to how students taking blended and online classes can take advantage of the Learning Hub’s services and resources;
  • use the UIS Learning Hub website to assist with completing this fill-in-the blank challenge;
  • after completing challenge, enter answers on the 2018 NDLW Challenge Participation Form;
  • completion of the game and providing answers on contest participation form will award you one (1) entry for the drawing;
  • deadline – Sunday, November 11, 2018 at 11:59 p.m.

Challenge #2 – Brookens Library

Do you know the UIS Brookens Library provides access to a collection of over 750,000 books and serials, including over 280,000 electronic resources? The availability of this robust digital collection, as well as the online help offered by Brookens librarians, makes the library a valuable resource for online students as well as their on-ground counterparts.

Challenge #3 and Bonus- UIS Services, Resources, Events & Perks

As a UIS student (particularly students taking online or blended classes) or as a member of the campus community who interacts with students, are you aware of some of the helpful resources, services, events, and perks available to students from a distance?

Details:

  • slide show challenge plus bonus trivia;
  • facilitates the process of increasing awareness about opportunities related to experiential and co-curricular learning, networking and engagement opportunities, and financial savings perks;
  • use the clues provided for each slide to save time and lead you to the general area of department webpages where the answers can be found;
  • after completing challenge, enter answers on the 2018 NDLW Challenge Participation Form;
  • completion of the slide show challenge and providing answers on contest participation form will award you one (1) entry for the drawing; plus (1) point if you successfully complete the bonus slide;
  • deadline – Sunday, November 11, 2018 at 11:59 p.m.

Challenge #4: Share Your Online Learning Story

As a student who learns from a distance, do you have an online learning experience you would like to share? Others would like to hear about your online learning experience! It’s important to share your story so others can be motivated, learn from your experience, and understand the challenges, so we can all work together to improve your educational experience.

Details:

  • slide show challenge plus “Did You Know” information about the changing demographics of students today;
  • use the resources provided for examples to include in your story and formatting guidelines;
  • let’s celebrate your achievements as a campus community;
  • after completing challenge, enter your story on the 2018 NDLW Challenge Participation Form;
  • completion of the slide show challenge and submitting your story on the contest participation form will award you one (1) entry for the drawing; the first two students who submit their story will also automatically win a diploma frame;
  • deadline – Sunday, November 11, 2018 at 11:59 p.m.

Challenge #5 – Photo Contest

Are you aware the campus community would like to have more information about students who study from a distance?  This challenge will provide students with the opportunity to showcase where they’re from and how they learn based on the photos submitted, resulting in more meaningful connections as a campus community. Send us a picture!

Details:

  • slide show challenge – have fun being creative with this challenge;
  • four photos for topics provided (about yourself and the city in which you reside);
  • as long as you submit one photo, you will be awarded one point for this challenge;
  • after completing challenge, upload your photo(s) with caption(s) on the 2018 NDLW Challenge Participation Form;
  • completion of the slide show challenge and uploading photo(s) on contest participation form will award you one (1) entry for the drawing;
  • deadline – Sunday, November 11, 2018 at 11:59 p.m.
