Career Highlights

“I began volunteering in my kids’ art classroom when they were in kindergarten and second grade. I had gone to college with their teacher and she definitely inspired me! I also enjoyed building relationships with the students and loved their excitement and energy. I went on to get my substitute license and then my full professional educator license.”

Choosing UIS online

“It was very convenient for me because I continued to work while attending class. I was also drawn to the small teacher education program family.”

How UIS changed or prepared me

“Because of the small classes, I felt comfortable and close with my teachers and classmates. I was able to share ideas and concerns with my teachers which led to success in my teacher education program as well as my personal and professional growth.”

Interesting fact: “My hobby is my family – I have 2 kids, a husband and a dog. They keep me plenty busy along with working. I am currently binge-watching Frasier and reading education-themed books like Boys Adrift, by Dr. Leonard Sax.”
