Appointments

Appointments will continue in The Learning Hub, but some disciplines may see a reduction in availability. We have shifted all any scheduled appointments to a remote format. Here are the options for remote tutoring:

Online (synchronous, available for all disciplines):

Appointment is held at a set time using Zoom. Tutor and student can communicate using microphones and/or chat boxes. Tutor can share any relevant materials via whiteboard, webcam, or document sharing. This appointment type is good for students who may want to ask questions, who work better with another person guiding them, or who prefer a specific time to work on their materials.

Email (asynchronous, available only for writing):

Appointment is not set at a specific time. Students will need to send their materials (including instructions/prompt) to The Hub by 8:30am on the day of their appointment. A member of the writing staff will review the materials, make comments, and send it back to the student by close of business that day (7:00pm M-R; 4:30pm F). This appointment type is good for students who do not necessarily need to ask follow-up questions, who can work on adopting suggested revisions on their own, or who do not need a specific time to work with a tutor on their materials.

Any previously scheduled appointments (weekly recurring, or set in advance) are still set, but have moved to an online Zoom session. However, we may need to make adjustments regarding available staff or appointment type.

Moving forward, any new appointments made after the semester resumes (March 23rd) are dependent on available staffing. Please be patient with us as we navigate this situation, and use our Make an Appointment form to streamline communications.
