Scholarships, Grants and Fellowships
UIS has several institutional scholarships that can be used to help cover the costs of international travel related to participating in approved study abroad programs.
The Global Experience, Droegkamp, Humphrey and Lundquist scholarships
The Global Experience, Droegkamp, Humphrey and Lundquist scholarships are applied for through the yearly scholarship application process coordinated by the Office of Financial Assistance. There is one application form that is used for all four. Please note that you should fill out the UIS Institutional Scholarship and the Global Studies Experience Scholarship applications.
Application Deadline for UIS Global Experience Travel Scholarships is February 7th for all immediately following summer, fall and spring study abroad programs.
Please note – the UIS travel scholarships require the submission of a Global Experience Program application prior to the submission of the application for the travel scholarship. The signature of the Director of the Office of International Programs is required on the Global Studies Experience scholarship application. The last day to acquire this signature is February 7th.
Benjamin Gilman International Scholarships
The Gilman International Scholarship Program offers a competition for awards for undergraduate study abroad. This scholarship provides awards for U.S. undergraduate students who are receiving federal Pell Grant funding at a 2-year or 4-year college or university to participate in study abroad programs worldwide.
Application Deadlines: For fall/academic year programs – early April
For spring programs – mid-October
Prestigious and National Scholarships
Nationally Competitive Scholarships at UIS works with students on applying for a wide range of scholarships and fellowships including, Fulbright, Marshall, Rhodes, Boren and Truman.
