From IEP to a UIS Degree Program

The Intensive English Program is an academic, intensive English language program designed to help international students develop the language skills necessary for matriculation at UIS.
Required steps for transitioning from IEP to UIS
Passing the IEP is NOT the only step towards moving on to the university.The following are the basic steps required for admission to UIS:
1 – Apply before the deadline.
2 – Pass one of the above listed UIS accepted proficiency tests.
3 – Submit ALL required documents (see below).
4 – Check for your degree’s requirements.
To UIS Admissions office:
- High school diploma
- Transcripts: High school (with at least 3 years); University transcript if applicable
To International Student Services office:
- Copy of your passport & visa
- Bank Statement OR Government Scholarship Letter
- Financial Statement Form – ISS (PDF)

UIS English Proficiency Requirements
UIS degree programs may have additional English proficiency requirements. See the English proficiency requirements for:
ALL non-native English speakers including international applicants seeking admission to a UIS degree program are required to show English proficiency as part of the application process. The UIS Office of Admissions accepts the following tests as proof of English proficiency:
- iTEP Academic Plus (offered at UIS to Levels 5 & 6 of IEP)
