Spring 2021 Outdoor Adventure Trips

Ice Skating LRS Rink: Friday, February 5, 5 P.M. –  Join Campus Recreation for an outdoor ice skating event. You will meet at TRAC and travel to the LRS Outdoor Rink, located next to Scheel’s in Springfield. Cost is $5 and includes skate rental. Registration begins Monday, January 25 at 9 a.m. in the TRAC front office. Spots are limited.

Day Hike at Lincoln Memorial Garden: Friday, March 12, 2 P.M. –  You will meet a Campus Recreation staff member at the start of the hike and then hike with a small group. Registration begins Monday, March 1 at 9 a.m. in the TRAC front office. Spots are limited.

Day Canoe/Kayak at UIS Field Station at Lake Springfield: Friday, March 26, 2 P.M. – 4 P.M. –  Stop by the UIS Field Station at Lake Springfield anytime between 2 P.M. and 4 P.M. to canoe and kayak on Lake Springfield. The last canoes and kayaks will leave the dock at 3:30 P.M., and a bags set will also be available to play. Campus Recreation will provide all the equipment you need, and you will meet a Campus Recreation staff member at the field station, who will help you if you have never canoed or kayaked before. Registration begins Monday, March 8 at 9 a.m. in the TRAC front office. Spots are limited.

Day Canoe/Kayak at UIS Field Station at Lake Springfield: Friday, April 2, 2 P.M. – 4 P.M. –  Stop by the UIS Field Station at Lake Springfield anytime between 2 P.M. and 4 P.M. to canoe and kayak on Lake Springfield. The last canoes and kayaks will leave the dock at 3:30 P.M., and a bags set will also be available to play. Campus Recreation will provide all the equipment you need, and you will meet a Campus Recreation staff member at the field station, who will help you if you have never canoed or kayaked before. Registration begins Monday, March 15 at 9 a.m. in the TRAC front office. Spots are limited.

Day Hike at Carpenter Park: Friday, April 9, 2 P.M. –  You will meet a Campus Recreation staff member at the start of the hike and then hike with a small group. Registration begins Monday, March 22 at 9 a.m. in the TRAC front office. Spots are limited.

Horseback Riding: Riverside Trail: Friday, April 16, 2 P.M. –  Join Campus Recreation on the inaugural horseback riding event! We will meet at TRAC and travel to Riverside Trail, just north of Springfield, where we will take a guided trail ride. Cost is $20 per student and spots are limited. Registration begins Monday, March 29 at 9 a.m. in the TRAC front office. Spots are limited.

Day Canoe/Kayak at Sugar Creek: Friday, April 23, 2 P.M. –  Campus Recreation will provide all the equipment you need. You will meet a Campus Recreation staff member at the start of the trip, who will help you if you have never canoed or kayaked before. Registration begins Monday, April 5 at 9 a.m. in the TRAC front office. Spots are limited.

*Trips are for UIS Students, which is defined as a currently enrolled student being assessed the Rec Center portion of the General Fee.
