Navie Fields ‘19

Hometown: Chicago
Major: Business Administration
Future Plans: Work in human resources

Growing up in the Chicago-area Navie Fields says he didn’t have many male role models. Now, he’s trying to change that for the next generation of young men by volunteering and serving as president of the Black Male Collegiate Society at the University of Illinois Springfield. Every other Friday, Fields spends an hour mentoring with his “little brother” at Springfield’s Matheny-Withrow Elementary School through the Big Brothers Big Sisters Program. He also volunteers as a member of the Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. Upsilon Xi Chapter where he serves as secretary. Fields works as a student orientation coordinator and is a member of the Necessary Steps Mentoring Program. He plans to obtain his master’s degree following graduation from UIS and work in the human resources field.

Leadership is lived at UIS. Every day.
