Mae Flight ‘20

Hometown: Charleston, Illinois
Major: Global Studies
Future Plans: Teach English as a second language

Tennis player Mae Flight says the University of Illinois Springfield has taught her to be more outgoing and seek out leadership roles where she can make a difference. Flight is co-president of the Habitat for Humanity Club on campus where she spends time helping with building projects in the Springfield community. She also helps newly arriving international students feel at home as an International Student Ambassador and by working in the Office of International Student Services. Flight says being a member of the UIS women’s tennis team has taught her to be more organized and focused on her future. Following graduation from UIS, she plans to teach English as a second language to elementary school students.

Leadership is lived at UIS. Every day.
