Arianna Boyd enjoys the small class sizes and close-knit community at the University of Illinois Springfield. On campus, she is a resident assistant for UIS Residence Life, financial secretary for the Upsilon Rho Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. and a mentor in the Necessary Steps Mentoring Program.
Miguel Valente is a leader on and off the University of Illinois Springfield campus. On campus, he’s the SGA senator for the College of Public Affairs and Administration, new member educator for the Delta Kappa Epsilon Kappa Beta Colony, treasurer for the Organization of Latin American Students and interns for the UIS Office of Veterans Affairs.
Kia Jones has become an expert in reviewing resumes and cover letters. She works at the University of Illinois Springfield Career Development Center where she helps any student who walks through the door make sure they’re ready to apply for a job. In December 2018, Jones was honored with the Student Affairs Employee of the Month award for her above and beyond work helping other students.
Conor McKenzie was among a group of UIS students who traveled to Cuba on a study abroad trip in January 2018. At UIS, McKenzie was recently elected the head delegate of the Model Illinois Government team. He is also a part of the Model United Nations team.
Abbie Varble loves to give back to her community. At UIS, Varble is co-president of the Habitat for Humanity Club, a resident assistant and member of the Leadership for Life Service Program. She is also a peer mentor for the Capital Scholars Honors Program, a member of the Christian Student Fellowship and plays in the UIS Concert Band.
