Hailey Hollinshead’s passion for science and medical research has grown at the University of Illinois Springfield. She plans to attend medical school following graduation and become a dermatologist. On campus, Hollinshead co-founded the Legion of Ladies, a student organization focused on women’s empowerment. She is also a resident assistant in Lincoln Residence Hall and previously served on the UIS cheerleading and track and field teams.
Makayla Cox has seen COVID-19 in the lab and on the front lines. She works as a medical laboratory technician for the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) and as a medical scribe in the Emergency Department at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.
