Juan Cabral chose the University of Illinois Springfield because of the right-sized campus and AACSB accredited accountancy program. On campus, he’s a leader in the Department of Campus Recreation where he works as an intramural supervisor at TRAC.
Jon O’Daniel recently completed an internship at accounting firm Eck, Schafer & Punke LLP in Springfield where he learned about tax preparation and audits. On campus, he is the president of the Delta Kappa Epsilon Kappa Beta Colony.
As president of the Student Activities Committee (SAC), Ahja Howard is responsible for planning two of the biggest and longest-running student life events at the University of Illinois Springfield each year. She also spends her time mentoring elementary school students in Springfield as a volunteer for the 4-H Mentoring Program.
Da Zhane’ Sinclair says the University of Illinois Springfield “feels like home” and the friends she’s made on campus are like family. Sinclair, an accountancy major, is a resident assistant (RA) on campus and mentors fellow first-generation college students as part of the Necessary Steps Program.
Music has been a part of Yu Shao’s life since she was six-years-old. That’s when she first started playing the Guzheng, a traditional Chinese instrument with thousands of years of history. Shao says it was her love of music that brought her to the University of Illinois Springfield where she is a Camerata Music Scholar.
