Future Plans: Pursue a doctorate in podiatry medicine
Asad earned his bachelor’s degree from University of Illinois Springfield and is now completing his master’s degree in public health. On campus, he is president of the Muslim Student Organization, which recently led a drive to collect clothing for Syrian refugees. He’s also a member of the Public Health Club and the Diversity Center’s Advisory Council. As part of the UIS Graduate Public Service Internship Program (GPSI), he is working at the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency (IEPA) where he is a lab analyst in the Microbiology Department. He is also an intern at genHkids, a non-profit organization that serves to educate kids on the virtues of healthy eating and exercise.
