Undergraduate biology students should consult with the biology academic advisor, JP Viray, each semester before registration. This will assist the student in making sure s/he is on track with graduating in the recommended allotted time.
The students should prepare a plan to ensure that all requirements are being met. The program recommends that students take the following courses at the suggested times:
- Fall, Junior year: comparative vertebrate biology and ecology
- Spring, Junior year: organismal botany
- Fall, Junior or Senior year: microbiology
- Spring, Senior year: cell biology and genetics
Genetics is used as the capstone course. It is assumed that students will have completed most of the required biology sequence before enrolling in this course.
Graduate students will continue to consult each semester with the biology advisor assigned when fully/conditionally admitted into the graduate program.
