Elizabeth Duggan

In Her Own Words

My name is Elizabeth Duggan, and my major is Business Administration. In January 2010, I began interning in the Special Events department with CMT (Country Music Television). Interning with CMT has been the best experience of my life. I have made so many new friends, from all over the country. I have encountered some of the biggest artists and top executives in the industry. Throughout my internship, I worked on exclusive events with various artists within aspects of ticketing and audience management, communicating with vendors, creative design, and overall event management. Some of the events and CMT takings I have woked on include:

  • CMT Crossroads – featuring Keith Urban and John Mayer
  • CMT Comedy Special – featuring Melissa Peterman (Am I the Only One)
  • Country Radio Seminar – featuring Big Machine Records, The Valory Music So., Republic Nathville, and CMT Radio Live
  • CMT Crossroads – featuring Kenny Chesney and Steve Miller Band (airing July 9, 2010)
  • CMT Awards 2010 – hosted by Kid Rock

Throughout this internship, I have learned what I am capable of, and at times even surprised myself. I was able to delegate, improve my communication skills, and prove my ability to think on my feet. My only regret is that I only completed one intership. My advice to other students would be to do as many internships as possible, in order to find out his or her interests and strengths, long before graduation.

Update: Elizabeth just found out that she is being hired as freelance for the Jimmy Buffett and Friends show in Orange Beach Alabama. During a working lunch with her surpervisor from CMT, they talked about career options and although CMT isn’t currently hiring for positions that are a good fit for Elizabeth, her supervisor is looking over Elizabeth’s resume and sending it to some of her contacts. Elizabeth’s supervisor is also putting together a reference letter for her resume. So she’s all smiles right now 🙂
