Memories of SSU/UIS
Traveling to Nicaragua as part of a graduate course research project into the impacts of globalization on Latin America. “Whether it was the group fundraising to ensure everyone in the class could go on the research trip, to time spent preparing presentations and research papers, those two semesters were critical for me in developing as an individual; personally, professionally and academically.”

Why did you choose UIS?
Encouraged by his older sister, King chose UIS simply because he was familiar with the campus and it was affordable. But when deciding on a graduate school, he specifically chose UIS with genuine excitement. “I was inspired by the educational experience I had as an undergrad in the Political Studies department.”

Advice to Students
“Get involved in extracurricular activities, volunteer at an organization, take an additional internship, join a group on campus or off – network. Getting involved outside of school will help you get a job that fits with your education and interests.”

Organic gardening. “It is more than a hobby, it is a passion.”
