Career Highlights
“One of the biggest highlights for me was externing for a federal judge. I was able to see a part of the justice system that attorneys rarely see and it showed me what goes into the decision making process in a judge’s chambers.”

Memories of SSU/UIS
“I don’t think I have enough room to list them all. One, of course, was meeting my future wife, Ashley. Competing in Model United Nations in New York City was a blast, which I highly recommend to anyone wanting to work in international relations. Also, I really enjoyed helping students through student government and serving as president for a couple of campus organizations.”

How did UIS change or prepare you?
“Because of the campus’ size and focus on individual development, there were more student leadership opportunities than any other place I know of. The curriculum also helped me in preparing for a legal career, whether it was critically breaking down arguments in my political philosophy classes, learning how to Shepardize a case in Legal Research, or participating in moot court competitions; it made the transition to law school a bit easier. Moreover, the internships in Springfield helped me make valuable contacts, both in the community and outside the region, and gain experience before I started my career.”

Interesting Fact
The Office is my favorite TV show by far. I like to spend my afternoons the golf course when I can (even though my average any time I play ranges from five to twenty over par).”
