Memories of SSU/UIS
“My most significant experience at UIS was my Graduate Public Service Internship. I came to UIS because of the GPSI program. It seemed like the best fit for someone who was looking to enhance his education while also gaining much needed work experience. My two years working with the Serve Illinois Commission as its intern led to a continuing position where I have served as the Resources and Information Manager and now Deputy Director. I also served as the interim Executive Director in 2012. All of this is because of my GPSI experience.”

How did UIS change or prepare you?
“As stated above, UIS helped to prepare me for my career. Not only did it prepare me, but also it directly opened the door to my current position.”

Personal Tidbits
“I am a father of a four-year-old, and I love working with her and watching her grow. I also greatly enjoy helping my constituents as a member of the school board. Education is a passion of mine.”
