Current Position
Senior Financial Analyst at the FDIC

Career Highlights
“Currently a securities trader for the FDIC’s Division of Finance working on a team that manages two portfolios with a total of about $55 billion in assets. Previous position at the FDIC was in the Division of Resolutions and Receiverships where I worked on teams that closed banks. In that position, I was responsible for delivering the news that the bank branch would be closed and confiscating the failed bank’s securities. While I worked in my office, I was responsible for liquidating the securities by working with investment bankers on Wall Street. In total, I traveled to 10 different bank closings all over the United States.”

Memories of SSU/UIS
“My favorite memories of UIS are from my first year where I lived in LRH on the Two South wing. I was lucky to have a great RA who planned a lot of activities, which made school fun and a great place to make lifelong friends. There was so much laughter that year!”

How did UIS change or prepare you
“I knew before enrolling at UIS that I wanted to work in public service. When I attended, UIS required students to complete an internship and assigned professor’s to mentor the students. This one-on-one attention was one of the benefits of a smaller-sized school. In addition, the location of UIS in the State’s Capitol allowed me to continue classes and complete my internship with the State of Illinois simultaneously. This internship program allowed me to apply my academic studies to a real work environment in State government, which I believe set me apart from other graduate school applicants. Therefore, UIS really prepared me to move on to graduate school and to start my professional career in public service.”

“Traveling to new places. I also recently came to love antiquing!”
