Career Highlights
“I have enjoyed three careers, one in journalism, one in higher education and now in association management. I’ve written two books 21 years apart, so I’m a writer at heart.”

Memories of SSU/UIS
“Being a mentor for a lot of students and then getting to see them graduate and go out and enjoy life and make a difference in the world. Also, working on multi-year campaign finance and civic engagement research projects with Barb Ferrara, Dick Schuldt and Kent Redfield and writing the political memoirs of former Illinois Senate President Philip J. Rock.”

How did UIS change or prepare you?
“I would not have gotten the Associate Chancellor position in the Chancellor’s office without a master’s degree. The UIS degree made my higher education career possible.”

Interesting Fact
“I used to go to Toronto once or twice a year over a ten-year period to help spread the legacy of spiritual writer Henri Nouwen.”
