Career Highlights
“Attending the GSUSA National Convention in 2014 as a delegate for Girl Scouts of Central Illinois was a huge highlight. I also get to work with amazing volunteers who help to build girls of courage, confidence, and character who will be the leaders of tomorrow – it’s inspiring!”

Memories of SSU/UIS
“When I was accepted into the MPA program, I was both delighted and nervous. I met with my advisor, Dr. Gloria Simo, before classes began and we had a great discussion about career goals, learning and teaching philosophies, and much more. Her words and actions reiterated to me that the MPA program at UIS was the right place for me. I was also lucky enough to have several professors who made the class not only about the material, but also about the people in it and showed a genuine interest not only in what we learned in their classes, but also in each one of us as people. These individuals inspire me to always look beyond the books, the tests, the spreadsheets, and focus on who you are working with. Thank you for that Dr. Beverly Bunch and Sarah Mackey.”

How did UIS change or prepare you?
“UIS gave me the opportunity to meet people I never would have met before and was a fantastic professional networking opportunity. I learned a great deal from my fellow MPA students and their professional experiences as well, which really drove home for me how important it is to make solid connections and that a community is strong only when it all sectors work together for the greater good.”

Interesting Fact
“I am an avid reader and love to get lost in a good book. I love attending local theater, dance, and music performances and supporting arts in our community. I am also a high ropes challenge course facilitator through Girl Scouts and love the zip line!”
