Assistant Director of Public Relations at the University of Illinois Springfield

Career Highlights
“I had a front row seat to history covering the impeachment trial of former Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich, as a reporter for WCIA-TV. I was there as the Illinois Senate voted to remove Blagojevich from office and Pat Quinn assumed leadership. Later that night, I interviewed Quinn on live television outside of the governor’s mansion.”

Memories of SSU/UIS
“While earning my master’s degree in Communication at UIS, I made a lot of good friends who I’m still in touch with today. My favorite class memory would be trying to cram as much information as possible onto a 3×5 note card for a test in Professor Elizabeth Ribarsky’s class. I’m pretty sure I was using 3.5 point font at one point!”

How did UIS change or prepare you?
“My UIS master’s degree helped to sharpen my writing and research skills, which are very important in my public relations career. For my master’s project, I produced a historical documentary series on the history of SSU/UIS. Producing the historical series taught me many lessons about video editing and producing a long-form documentary.”

Personal Note
“I enjoy spending time with my wife, family and traveling. I’m also intensely interested in technology, especially when it relates to my job”
