FRIENDS of UIS Performing Arts Center

We invite you to express your enthusiasm for the arts by joining an outstanding group of individuals — the FRIENDS of UIS Performing Arts Center. You’ll find more details at the link. By becoming a Friend, you will help guarantee the continuation of quality arts and entertainment programs for the Springfield community and surrounding areas, setting the stage for future generations to enjoy high quality and world-renowned performances that explore, educate and entertain.

UIS Our Stage Our Voice Program

Gifts to Our Stage / Our Voices provide resources and administrative support to an organized committee comprised of Central Illinois citizens and UIS students who are all self-identified members of historically underrepresented communities (i.e. Black; Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer (LGBTQ); Hispanic/Latino; and people with disabilities) in the regional performing arts industry. This program brings historically underrepresented community members into decision making roles for the creating of performing arts activities and to raise awareness of the need for diversity in the creation of regional shows.

Special Projects Fund

Sangamon Auditorium Special Projects

Gifts to this fund help maintain Sangamon Auditorium as an outstanding venue for high-quality entertainment, providing for stage lights, sound, comfortable seating, and other amenities for patrons. A major facelift of the lobby area is also planned. According to Bryan Rives, new director of the UIS Performing Arts Services, the space will have “amenities patrons expect of a world-class performance facility.” This includes a new grand staircase to the third-floor landing and a new ticket office. Over the years, 72,000 visitors have come to the performance venues now encompassed in the UIS Performing Arts Center, adding to the performing arts available in Central Illinois. “It was time for a refresh and to celebrate all of the accomplishments our organization has had over the years,” said Rives. More information in the UIS Newsroom.
