Meet Alumnus Chigozie Umeadi

Chigozie UmeadiChigozie Umeadi ’12 CBM is an Associate Manager, Basketball Strategies and Analytics with the NBA. He says being a student-athlete on the men’s basketball team helped him develop the time management skills, team work and project management skills he uses every day on the job. Learn more about Chigozie’s leadership within the NBA.



New Director, Public Affairs Reporting Program

Jason PisciaJason Piscia, former digital managing editor of The State Journal-Register, is the new director of the Public Affairs Reporting master’s degree program. He succeeds longtime director Charles N. Wheeler III, who retired after leading the program for 26 years. “I’m honored and humbled to have the opportunity to lead the program that jump-started my career,” said Piscia.




Faculty Help Organize Workshop on Urban Sustainability

Staff at sustainability workshopTwo faculty members recently helped to organize a National Science Foundation-sponsored workshop on Urban Sustainability, with a focus on water, energy and climate change. The workshop brought together more than 130 stakeholders across industries and disciplines to collaborate and find solutions. The group plans to submit multiple projects produced at the workshop for major funding.

Chancellor Susan J. KochChancellor Susan J. Koch provides a glimpse into the lives of talented and dedicated faculty and staff in her recent State Journal-Register article. Their contributions to the community spread beyond campus to include community theater, musical entertainment, volunteer work and more.



Examining Role of Museums in Civic Life

Hinda Seif in Washington, DCHinda Seif, Associate Professor of Sociology/Anthropology and Women/Gender Studies spent the month of July exploring museums and curated cultural collections around Washington, DC with 24 colleagues from across the nation. “We grappled with questions such as: what is the role of museums in building a robust civic culture in the US today?” said Seif. She plans to bring what she learned back to the classroom.
