Alumnus Bob Vitale MA ’92 PAR is the editor of Prizm, a monthly magazine for the LGBTQ community in Ohio. He says the Public Affairs Reporting program helped him live his dream of covering news in Washington, DC. Before moving back to his home state in 2004, Vitale covered national news including the 1996 presidential election and the Clinton impeachment saga.

Downtown Springfield business incubator Innovate Springfield has become part of UIS under an agreement aimed at expanding economic growth, entrepreneurship opportunities and social progress in the capital city. Innovate Springfield also becomes the first hub of the Illinois Innovation Network (IIN), an initiative led by the U of I System to accelerate statewide job creation and economic development through groundbreaking research and innovation.

Dual Credit CourseNew Dual Credit Course to Prepare Aspiring Teachers

The ongoing teacher shortage has prompted the Teacher Education Department to offer a new dual credit course for high school seniors in Menard and Sangamon Counties. The course provides students with the opportunity to experience a college course and earn transferable credit, while also introducing them to the education profession.
