UIS is Reaching Stellar: The Student Union
On January 14, UIS Chancellor Susan J. Koch, UI President Timothy Killeen and the UIS community gathered for the ribbon-cutting ceremony celebrating the grand opening of the Student Union. Since fundraising efforts began, 225 donors have made gifts ranging from $5 to $1,500,000. These gifts come from people who are excited to see a Student Union at UIS. Join the excitement, and visit the Student Union!
Meet the 2018 Alumni Award Recipients
At the 2018 UIS Alumni Gala, Pulitzer Prize recipient Kathy Best will be presented with the Alumni Achievement Award, and Mary Mitchell Beaumont will be presented with the Distinguished Service Award. Please join us on Friday evening, February 23 at the UIS Student Union as we honor these two exceptional alumnae at the UIS Alumni Gala.
In her monthyly column appearing in The State Journal-Register, Chancellor Susan J. Koch highlights the impact of the UIS Educational Leadership graduate degree program, which prepares outstanding K-12 school principals and superintendents who will ultimately impact how well students learn in school.
Each year, the University community honors and celebrates outstanding UIS graduates and friends. The UIS Alumni Board is accepting nominations for the UI Alumni Humanitarian Award and the UI Loyalty Award for Exceptional Alumni Service. The nomination period is now through March 23, for the next presentation cycle. We encourage you to nominate someone deserving today!
Regardless of the decade, UIS campus sparkles like a winter wonderland with snow covering all in sight. Enjoy a “Then and Now” pictorial showing some iconic snow-covered areas from the earliest days of Sangamon State University and today.
