Past Scholarship Recipients – Where Are They Now?

On November 2, almost 300 donors, students and special guests celebrated the generosity of donors at the annual UIS Scholarship Luncheon. This year, UIS awarded 312 privately funded scholarships, many created by alumni. We thought you might like to catch up with some former scholarship recipients through the decades. Alumnus James Forstall Selected as First Citizen

James Forstall, a military veteran who has dedicated many years to improving the lives of Springfield’s youth, was named The State Journal-Register’s First Citizen for 2016 at a ceremony on Thursday, October 27. Forstall is the 54th recipient of the award, established in 1963 to honor service that improves the Springfield community.

UIS Adds Six New Degree Majors

UIS has added six new majors, offering students more educational options. Five new majors started this fall – bachelor’s degrees in biochemistry, exercise science, public administration and public policy; and a master’s degree in data analytics. A bachelor’s degree in theatre will begin in fall 2017.
