Vice Chancellor for Advancement, University of Illinois Springfield
Senior Vice President, University of Illinois Foundation
Dr. Lorber came to UIS in 2012 from Southern Illinois University Carbondale (SIUC) where he was Associate Vice Chancellor for Institutional Advancement and Executive Director of Development for the SIU Foundation. He was at SIUC from 2005 to 2012 and served as the Campaign Director for that institution’s first comprehensive campaign, a successful $106-million effort. He has been an active volunteer and presenter for the Council for Advancement and Support of Education. In 2014, Jeff was recognized as the Outstanding Fundraising Professional by the Capital Area (IL) Chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals. Jeff previously held advancement positions at Indiana University Northwest, the University of Tennessee, Northern Illinois University, Butler University, the University of Northern Iowa, and Washington University in St. Louis.
Jeff earned his doctoral degree in educational administration and policy studies from the University of Tennessee in 2001, a master’s degree in college student personnel from Western Illinois University in 1990 and a bachelor’s degree in communications/public relations from the University of Northern Iowa in 1987. He was a 2013 recipient of the Alumni Achievement Award from Western Illinois University.
Associate Vice Chancellor for Alumni Relations
Chuck Schrage joined the Office of Advancement in April 2015. He has worked at the University for over 20 years, most recently serving over 16 years as UI Alumni Association Vice President for Alumni Relations at UIS, managing the Association’s operations in Springfield. Chuck earned a Master of Arts degree in political science from the University, and competed his Bachelor of Arts degree from MacMurray College. Having a passionate belief in the transformative power of higher education, Chuck specializes in alumni engagement strategy, volunteer management, program management, and university relations. During his personal time, Chuck loves to exercise and experience world travel – passions which he hopes to pass along to his daughter. Both he and his wife are involved in volunteer activities supporting youth and those in need.
Director of Development
Major Gift Officer for College of Business and Management, Corporations/Foundations
As a major gift officer for the College of Business and Management, Laura meets with alumni and friends of UIS to identify, cultivate, solicit, and stewards gifts. She also works closely with colleges, units and senior administrators to expand and steward relationships with foundations and corporations and researches and develops presentations and proposals to fund campus or university initiatives. Laura has a BA in History from Western Illinois University and as MA in public history (coursework completed) from UIS. Before UIS, Laura worked more than 15 years in non-profit management, most recently in Peoria as Executive Director of Family House and Vice President of the Peoria Friendship House.
Assoc. Director of Grants, Marketing and Communications
Marilyn creates donor communications through letters, newsletters, emails and other pieces. She also writes grants to private foundations and corporations, oversees the Advancement websites, writes stories about students and donors, helps with messaging at events and contributes to other marketing and communications requirements of the Office of Advancement. She has a bachelor’s degree from Wheaton College in Literature and a master’s from Texas A&M in Composition and Rhetoric.

Major gift officer for College of Education and Human Services and Sangamon Auditorium
Tom is an alumnus of UIS, having earned a B.A. in Management in 1984. He has had a strong career in non-profit administration and fundraising roles in central Illinois, including work with the Grand Lodge of Illinois A.F. & A.M., Central Illinois Community Blood Center, and the American Cancer Society.
Holly (Fowler) Primm
Alumni Relations Officer
Holly earned a B.A. in Political Studies, while in the third class of the Capital Scholars Honors Program, and a Master’s in Public Administration, both from UIS. Having previously worked for the UI Alumni Association, Holly joined the Office of Advancement in 2015, where she plans and executes alumni and donor engagement activities and supports communication and marketing for alumni and campus relations. Holly also coordinates the UIS Crowdfundining initiative. Prior to joining the University, Holly worked at The Greater Springfield Chamber of Commerce.
Matthew helps to manage the Office of Advancement data needs. He runs financial reports, creates mailing lists, and helps to identify donor prospects and maintain the data base of people with ties to UIS. He graduated from UIS with a degree in computer science in 2007.

Lynne meets with donors to discover their interests and then helps them help the University through their giving. She has a BA degree in communications and an MPA, both from UIS, as well as a certificate in nonprofit fundraising. Before joining UIS, she worked at Big Brothers/Big Sisters, the Central Food Bank and Benedictine University. She is a member of the Association of Fundraising Professions, Illinois Women in Leadership and Women for Women with the Community Foundation for the Land of Lincoln.
Assistant to the Vice Chancellor for Advancement
Teresa oversees the business operations of the office, stewardship of gifts and coordination of the private donor scholarships award process, and the annual scholarship luncheon. Before starting at UIS in 2000, she was the Director of Research and Records for Alumni and Development at Millikin University in Decatur. She holds a bachelor’s from SIU Carbondale and a master’s from UIS in Health Services Administration.

Tom earned an MS Ed. degree from Southern Illinois University Carbondale and a BS degree with honors from Illinois State University. Before starting at UIS, he served as an Extension Educator for UIUC College of ACES and program development and in fund raising for a private not-for-profit. Tom works regionally and nationally with alumni and friends of UIS assisting them with their personal philanthropy.

Lisa earned an M.S. degree from the University of Illinois and her B.S. and B.A. degrees from Miami University in Ohio. Before starting at UIS in 2001, she served as Development Director for the Central Illinois Foodbank for 4-1/2 years. She manages annual fundraising and marketing operations for the campus and its units, oversees all requests for the UIS Fund, and manages UIS’ very successful Faculty and Staff Campaign each year.
Cathy serves as primary assistant to the VCA/SVPUIF and coordinates the office support functions of the office. Other duties include overseeing the gift processing, performing all fiscal and personnel transactions of unit, and coordinating training in conjunction with the University of Illinois Foundation. She has been with the Office of Advancement since 1999.
Office Support Specialist
Pat provides valuable support to Office of Advancement staff, helping with business functions, the office’s many events, and publications. She has a psychology degree.
Office Support Specialist
Kristen will provide important support for events, annual giving and alumni engagement. She will also provide general support to the Office of Advancement. Kristen graduated from UIS in 2009 with a B.A. in Communication.
Prairie Stars Athletics
Roy L. Brown, III
Deputy Athletics Director
Roy is responsible for leading the external affairs efforts supporting the 15 Prairie Stars intercollegiate teams. Prior to coming to UIS, Roy has held positions at Southeastern Louisiana University and Fairfield University in Connecticut. More recently, he served as Senior Associate Director of Athletics for External Relations at Towson University.
Development Assistant for Sangamon Auditorium
Brandy manages the fundraising efforts for Sangamon Auditorium, making sure that individuals and businesses in the Springfield community are informed of their opportunities to support the performing arts through the Auditorium.

Randy grew up in the South Suburbs of Chicago and graduated from North Central College in Naperville with a degree in Speech Communication/Theatre. He has worked at several radio stations, including long stints at WGN in Chicago and KTAR in Phoenix. He is thrilled to be a part of WUIS’ efforts to enhance the Central Illinois community.
Membership and Engagement Manager
Nice earned her B.A in Communications from UIS. She has more than 15 years of experience and expertise generating revenue and increasing support bases for expanding national and local non-profit and for profit organizations. In a previous position, she was a director, responsible for Corporate Communications, Marketing and Advertising. Nice joined the NPR Illinois team in 2015. She is responsible for donor relations and developing engagement events and special activities for NPR Illinois.
