Vice Chancellor for Advancement, University of Illinois Springfield
Senior Vice President, University of Illinois Foundation
Jeff leads the fundraising and alumni engagement functions at UIS. He has been with the university since 2012 and is directing UIS’
$40 million Reaching Stellar Campaign. He received the Outstanding Professional Fundraiser Award from the Capital Area Chapter (IL) of the Association of Fundraising Professionals in 2014.
Previously, Jeff was associate vice chancellor for institutional advancement and executive director of development for the SIU Foundation at Southern Illinois University Carbondale, serving as campaign director for that institution’s first comprehensive campaign, a successful $106 million effort. He was also vice chancellor for university advancement at Indiana University Northwest, director of development for the College of Engineering at the University of Tennessee, director of university development at Northern Illinois University, director of major gifts at Butler University, director of major gifts at the University of Northern Iowa, and assistant director of development for the School of Engineering at Washington University in St. Louis.
Jeff earned a doctoral degree in educational administration and policy studies from the University of Tennessee. His master’s degree in college student personnel is from Western Illinois University and his bachelor’s degree in communications/public relations is from the University of Northern Iowa. He is a recipient of the Alumni Achievement Award from Western Illinois University.
Associate Vice Chancellor for Alumni Relations
Chuck joined the Office of Advancement in April 2015. He has worked at the university for more than 20 years, most recently serving 16-plus years as UI Alumni Association Vice President for Alumni Relations, managing the association’s operations in Springfield. Chuck earned a Master of Arts degree in political science from UIS, and competed his Bachelor of Arts degree from MacMurray College. Having a passionate belief in the transformative power of higher education, Chuck specializes in alumni engagement strategy, volunteer management, program management and university relations. During his personal time, Chuck loves to exercise and experience world travel – passions which he hopes to pass along to his daughter. Both he and his wife are involved in volunteer activities supporting youth and those in need.
Associate Vice Chancellor for Development
Lisa earned a Master of Science degree from the University of Illinois and her Bachelor of Science and Bachelor of Arts degrees from Miami University in Ohio. Before starting at UIS in 2001, she served as Development Director for the Central Illinois Foodbank for more than four years. She manages annual fundraising and marketing operations for the campus and its units, oversees all requests for the UIS Fund, and manages UIS’ successful Faculty and Staff Campaign each year.

Major gift officer for the College of Public Affairs and Administration; Peoria and Tazewell counties; and Eastern and Northeastern states
Terri has nearly 20 years of experience in fundraising, having led the development offices of the Capital Area Chapter of the American Red Cross, Senior Services of Central Illinois and St. Joseph’s Home. She is now pursuing a graduate certificate in management of nonprofit organizations at UIS and previously earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in speech communication and journalism from Eastern Illinois University.
Director of Development
Major gift officer for the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences
Pam earned a Bachelor of Science in political science at the University of Illinois Champaign-Urbana. Pam has more than 20 years of experience in fundraising with several Central Illinois nonprofits, including Carle Center for Philanthropy and United Way of Champaign County. She is additionally pursing her MPA at UIS. Pam has the education and experience, but most importantly the passion, to do great things and impact people’s lives.
Director of Development
Major gift officer for College of Education and Human Services; and the UIS Performing Arts Center
Tom is an alumnus of UIS, having earned a Bachelor of Arts in management in 1984. He has had a strong career in nonprofit administration and fundraising roles in central Illinois, including work with the Grand Lodge of Illinois A.F. & A.M., Central Illinois Community Blood Center and the American Cancer Society.
Office Support Specialist
Kristen provides important support for events, annual giving and alumni engagement. She also provides general support to the Office of Advancement. Kristen graduated from UIS in 2009 with a Bachelor of Arts in communication.
Assistant Director of Advancement Engagement
Maggie coordinates alumni and donor events in the Springfield area and across the country. She manages alumni communications, including the UIS Alumni webpage, emails, e-newsletter and social media pages. She’s also the Crowdfunding Coordinator for the UIS campus. Before coming to UIS, Maggie worked at the American Lung Association as a development manager and event planner for the Fight for Air Climb and Springfield Golf Classic. She has a bachelor’s degree from Bradley University in public relations, and minors in entrepreneurship and innovation, and business management and administration.
Matthew helps to manage the Office of Advancement data needs. He runs financial reports, creates mailing lists, and helps to identify donor prospects and maintain the data base of people with ties to UIS. He graduated from UIS with a degree in computer science in 2007.
Kate earned a Master of Arts degree in public affairs reporting from the University of Illinois Springfield and her Bachelor of Arts degree in Mass Communication – Journalism from Winona State University. Before starting at UIS in 2019, Kate spent more than 15 years as a journalist, working in various reporter and editor roles at newspapers in Illinois, Indiana, Minnesota and Wisconsin. Her beats over the years includes covering education, higher education, government and courts. She manages marketing and communication efforts for the Advancement Office.
Mary “Lisa” Strothmann
Lisa oversees administrative services in the Office of Advancement, manages the office staff and coordinates many other essential functions to help Advancement personnel achieve their goals.
Executive Policy Advisor
Teresa has more than 26-plus years of fundraising experience in the areas of donor and gift stewardship, prospect research, event planning, policy development, budget oversight, capital campaigns, scholarship selection procedures, and donor and alumni database conversion. Teresa currently oversees the business operations of the UIS Office of Advancement. Before starting at UIS in 2000, she was the Director of Research and Records for Alumni and Development at Millikin University in Decatur. She holds a bachelor’s degree from SIU Carbondale and a master’s from UIS in health services administration.
Katie Champion Williams
Director of Development
Major gift officer for the College of Business and Management; and Corporate and Foundation Fundraising
Katie earned a Bachelor of Science degree in communications studies at Indiana State University in the early 2000s. Prior to coming to the University of Illinois Springfield, she spent most of her career fundraising and doing education outreach with the American Cancer Society. Katie shares her passion for higher education and UIS to cultivate philanthropic relationships with alumni and friends of the university, both locally and throughout the greater Midwest.
Illinois Innocence Project
Courtney Cosgrove Reed
Courtney earned a Master of Science from Northwestern University’s Medill School of Journalism and a Bachelor of Arts in communication arts from Hamline University in Minnesota. Before joining the Illinois Innocence Project in 2014, she spent her career as a grant writer for various not-for-profits and a corporate communication consultant for an international firm in Chicago. Courtney oversees all advancement activities for the Illinois Innocence Project, including fundraising, donor relations and communications, event planning and grant writing, and also assists in the administrative management of the organization.
General Manager, NPR Illinois
Randy grew up in the south suburbs of Chicago and graduated from North Central College in Naperville with a degree in speech communication/theatre. He has worked at several radio stations, including long stints at WGN in Chicago and KTAR in Phoenix. He is thrilled to be a part of NPR Illinois’ efforts to enhance the Central Illinois community.
NPR Illinois Membership and Engagement Coordinator
Bea has a love for engaging with the public, which is one of the many responsibilities she has at NPR Illinois. Previously, she was the Leadership Lived student worker for NPR Illinois during the 2017-2018 academic year. Beatrice completed the Capital Honors Scholars Program, majoring in communications at UIS, in 2018. She is currently pursuing a master’s degree in communication.
NPR Illinois Director of Development
Nice earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in communication from UIS. She has been creating measurable results in managing corporate communications, fundraising, advertising, external affairs, community relations, government relations, marketing and media for more than 15 years. She has worked internationally with a focus on all aspects of communications and fundraising management. A significant amount of her experience has been working in stakeholder management involving governments, NGOs, and resource development companies. Nice joined the NPR Illinois team in 2015.
Prairie Stars Athletics
Roy L. Brown, III
Deputy Athletics Director
Roy is responsible for leading the external affairs efforts supporting the university’s 17 intercollegiate teams. Prior to coming to UIS, Roy held positions at Southeastern Louisiana University, Fairfield University and Towson University. A graduate of the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, he received degrees in both psychology and public relations.
Development and Special Events Coordinator
Ally oversees and engages in projects for department events, fundraising, solicitations and stewardship. She manages data for both current and prospective donors, and also helps coordinate marketing activities. She has a bachelor’s degree from UIS in communication with minors in marketing and management. She is currently pursuing a master’s degree in communication.
UIS Performing Arts Center
Development Manager for the Performing Arts Center
Sharon is responsible for the FRIENDS of UIS Performing Arts Services – raising funds and recruiting volunteers in support of the program. Sharon has more than 22 years’ experience in fundraising, event planning and alumni engagement. She previously served as alumni director at MacMurray College in Jacksonville, Illinois, and Westminster College in Fulton, Missouri, and served as annual fund coordinator at William Woods University, also in Fulton. Sharon is a member of the Board of Directors of Jacksonville Main Street, was presented the Paul Harris Fellow in 2015 by the Jacksonville Rotary Club, and volunteers for various local organizations. Sharon has an MBA from William Woods University and a Bachelor of Science degree from MacMurray College. Sharon believes strongly in the benefits provided to communities by strong arts programs, and she truly enjoys meeting and working with FRIENDS of UIS Performing Arts Center.
