The self-study process for UIS came on the heels of the university’s strategic planning initiative. Energized by a new mission statement and committed to a self-study process that would document and analyze a profile of the campus as it actualized this mission, UIS chose to use it to frame the organization of the self-study report.
Chapters 3, 4, 5, and 6 each addressed an element of UIS’ new mission statement. Each chapter addressed each of the four HLC cross-cutting themes: Future-Oriented Organization; Learning-Focused Organization; Connected Organization; and Distinctive Organization. The Distinctive Organization section of each chapter included a discussion and analysis of the identified institutional strengths and areas of concern.
