Progress Quicker with Accelerated Eight-Week Courses

Classes Begin Oct. 19

The University of Illinois Springfield is providing a unique opportunity to help you reach your educational goals faster with 27 accelerated eight-week courses.

Maybe you weren’t ready to start classes in August because of COVID-19, or maybe you’re kicking your educational progress into high gear. Don’t miss this opportunity to add these courses to your transcript and potentially earn your degree in a shorter period of time.

Accelerated courses begin Oct. 19 and are offered in accountancy, athletic training, business, communication, educational leadership, human development counseling, management, mathematical sciences, philosophy, teacher education and theatre.

Prospective students can sign up for the classes by applying to UIS at uis.edu/admissions/applytoday/. Current UIS students can sign up by using Student Self Service and following the instructions at uis.edu/registration/courseschedule/accelerated/. All students are eligible to apply for financial assistance.

Accelerated Course Schedule Information

UIS offers accelerated courses outside of our traditional full semester dates to provide flexibility to students as they work toward the completion of a UIS program.  These courses are termed “First Half” or “Last (Second) Half” because they are offered during a portion of the semester.  To view these courses (including specific dates, etc.), see below.  

 

First Half Courses

Viewing First Half Course Schedule Information via Student Self-Service:

  1. Visit the Dynamic Course Schedule,
  2. Select the current semester from the pull-down list,
  3. Select one or more “Subject” (use the Shift key to select consecutive subjects or the Control key to select non-consecutive subjects),
  4. Select the “First Half” part of term, and
  5. Click “Class Search” to view all second half course sections offered.

Last (Second) Half Courses

Viewing Second Half Course Schedule Information via Student Self-Service:

  1. Visit the Dynamic Course Schedule,
  2. Select the current semester from the pull-down list,
