COVID-19 Tenure Rollback Requests
To alleviate concerns we have been hearing about COVID-19’s effects on tenure-track faculty, we are sharing information about modifications to the university’s tenure rollback policy (Article 7, Section 3, C). In response to this COVID-19 pandemic, and after conversations with the University Professionals of Illinois (UPI 4100/UIS Faculty), UIS intends to interpret the rollback policy generously and compassionately. Therefore, rollbacks will be available to tenure-track faculty members who believe COVID-19 creates a significant disruption to their progress towards tenure and promotion.
- Tenure-track faculty eligible for tenure review in academic year 2020-2021 must apply for a rollback by May 15, 2020.
- Tenure-track faculty scheduled for two- or four-year reappointment review in academic year 2020-2021 must apply for a rollback by August 15, 2020.
- Tenure-track faculty that are not scheduled for review during the academic year 2020-2021 must apply for rollback by March 1, 2021.
Rollback requests for COVID-19 will not count against any limit on the overall number of rollbacks. Please apply using the streamlined application process for COVID-19 rollbacks link.
