CSPL Executive Director finalist – Brian Chapman
Brian Chapman is a first-generation college graduate and lifelong learner who earned his Masters in Public Administration and Ph.D. in Political Science at SIUC while working fulltime. In addition, he earned a multi-course certificate in fundraising from the Indiana University School of Philanthropy and extensive leadership training certificates from the University of Alabama and the Kennedy School of Government at Harvard.
Over the past 25 years, Brian has served in a variety of roles at SIUC from lead fundraiser, to Assistant Vice Chancellor, to Executive Assistant to the System President. Currently, he serves as Executive Director for Regional and Intergovernmental Affairs reporting to the Provost, and adjunct faculty in the Masters of Public Administration Program. Previously, Brian served eight years staffing the Illinois Legislature.
Brian is passionate about public service and serves as Ora Township Supervisor, president of St. Luke Lutheran Church council, and member of the Carbondale Chamber of Commerce Economic Development Committee, the Carbondale Business Development Corporation, the Jackson County Building Commission and the Illinois Comptroller’s Local Government Advisory Board.
Brian is a lifelong resident of Illinois.
