SPRINGFIELD – A Taste of UIS, the lunchtime lecture series sponsored by the University of Illinois Alumni Association at UIS, will conclude for the spring on Wednesday, May 21, with “What’s New in the Solar System.” Charles Schweighauser, professor of Astronomy and Physics, will be the featured speaker at the program, which will be held at Maldaner’s Upstairs, 222 S. Sixth St., Springfield.
Recent satellite exploration has brought scientists a great amount of detailed information that has added to and changed ideas about the solar system. Schweighauser will present a lecture and slide program examining some of the latest discoveries.
A hot buffet lunch will be available beginning at 11:30 a.m. Schweighauser’s presentation will begin at 12:10 p.m. and conclude by 12:50 p.m. Reservations are $13 for Alumni Association members, $18 for non-members, and must be made by May 16.
