New scholarship available to UIS students with disabilities

SPRINGFIELD - Applications are being accepted for the Friends of UIS Scholarship for Students with Disabilities, a new scholarship at the University of Illinois at Springfield that will be awarded for the first time for the 2005-2006 academic year.
Two scholarships of $1,000 each are available. To be eligible, students must be enrolled for at least four credit hours each semester, with a minimum cumulative grade-point average of 2.00. In addition, applicants must be registered with the UIS Office of Disability Services and this registration must be certified on the scholarship application. Qualified applicants must also complete a 2005-2006 FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid), indicating UIS as a college choice.
Application forms may be obtained at the UIS Office of Financial Assistance, located in University Hall; downloaded from their web site at www.uis.edu/financialaid/scholarship.html; or obtained from the UIS Office of Disability Services, located in room 22 of the Student Life Building. The deadline to apply is March 31.
