Workshop on managing a diverse workforce to be held at UIS
SPRINGFIELD The professional training seminar People vs. People: Diversity and Managing the Non-Traditional Workforce will be presented from 4 to 6 p.m. on Monday, March 19, in Brookens Auditorium on the University of Illinois at Springfield campus. The event, sponsored by the UIS Office of Career Services, is free and open to the public.
The presentation will examine the cultural, ethnic, and demographic makeup of the non-traditional worker and offer strategies, techniques, and insights to successfully blend the melting pot of an increasingly diverse workforce. Attendees will gain insights on building respect and understanding for increased workforce motivation, productivity, and teamwork.
The presentation will be led by trainers Chuck and Irene Brown, who have over 20 years of sales, marketing, job coaching, motivating, mentoring, training, and managerial experience.
Successful organizations must be able to draw from a diverse talent of skills and creativity, said Brown, adding The successful leader can develop a positive atmosphere for synergy by recognizing prejudices, fears, and stereotypes and building respect for all workers.
