UIS publication to be included in prestigious academic index
July 19, 2005
SPRINGFIELD – State Politics and Policy Quarterly, a publication of the University of Illinois at Springfield, has been tapped for inclusion in Thomson/ISI’s Social Science Citation Index, one of the most prestigious academic journal indexing services in the world.
State Politics and Policy Quarterly, published by UIS’ Institute for Legislative Studies and the Institute of Government and Public Affairs at the University of Illinois, is the official journal of the State Politics and Policy organized section of the American Political Science Association.
Christopher Mooney, professor of political studies at UIS and with the IGPA, is the founding editor of SPPQ. He explained: “The SCCI maintains a website and database in which the article abstracts on top journals are included, with interconnectivity established between each article and those that either cite it as a reference or that it cites itself.
“This not only means that thousands more researchers will have instant access to SPPQ, but it is also a testament to the international regard in which the journal is held,” said Mooney. “The SCCI is one of the primary research tools used by scholars around the world. Inclusion is the gold standard of excellence for academic journals in the social sciences.”
State Politics and Policy Quarterly was founded in 2001 in the Institute for Legislative Studies at UIS. Its mission is to stimulate research on state politics and policy and to provide an institutional structure for developing a progressive and coherent research agenda in the field. SPPQ publishes double-blind reviewed, cutting-edge academic research on state politics, written by scholars from around the world.
