UIS to host celebration of Peruvian Independence Day

SPRINGFIELD – The University of Illinois at Springfield will host a celebration of Peruvian Independence Day – featuring authentic food, music, and dance – from 6 p.m. to midnight Saturday, July 23, at Cinco DeMayo, 3751 S. Sixth St. Rd., in Springfield.
Dinner, beginning at 6 p.m., will feature seco de carnero con frijoles y arroz (a lamb dish), served with rice and Peruvian beans.
Entertainment will include Peruvian folk dancers, musicians, and prizes. The dance floor will open to the audience at 9 p.m.
The event is sponsored by the UIS Office of International Affairs, National Image Inc., and the Springfield Convention and Visitors Bureau.
Tickets, including dinner, are $15 and will be available at the door.
