SPRINGFIELD – Discussion sessions in a Racial Dialogue Group will meet from 5 to 6 p.m. Monday evenings beginning January 28 in room 37 of the Communication, Psychology, and Visual Arts Building on campus at the University of Illinois at Springfield.
The sessions are free and open to community members of all ages. Groups are welcome and participants may attend one session or the entire series.
Through video clips, guest speakers, and discussion groups, the program will examine such questions as: What is the state of race relations in the U.S. in 2002? What do we need to know about each other? What are individuals taught about other races and ethnic groups? Other issues will include white privilege and affirmative action.
This program is presented as part of an Illinois Intergenerational Diversity Initiative. For more information, contact Hazel Rozema, UIS associate professor of Communication, at 206-6790.
