UIS women’s tennis schedules first annual alumni match
April 10, 2006
SPRINGFIELD – The women’s tennis team at the University of Illinois at Springfield will hold its first annual alumni match on Friday, April 21, at the UIS tennis courts. The event will pit past SSU/UIS tennis players against the current UIS team. All past members of a Sangamon State University or UIS women’s tennis team are invited to play.
Head coach Dominic Giacomini noted that, to date, more than a dozen former players have accepted the invitation and are expected to attend.
Players should be at the campus court at noon; the match will begin at 1 p.m. A hospitality tent will also be available to allow alumni players to catch up with old teammates and get acquainted with members of the present team.
Current UIS women’s tennis players are sophomores Jennifer Cloyd, Nicole Cudiamat, and Jennifer Gebben; and freshmen Christine Hofmann, Jenn Maziarka, Ashley McGowan, Hannah Pellouchoud, and Sarah Wellard.
Giacomini has led the SSU/UIS women’s tennis program since 1991.
