Weekend Edition Sunday host Liane Hansen
SPRINGFIELD – Liane Hansen, host of NPR's award-winning Weekend Edition Sunday, is visiting Central Illinois as the guest of public radio station WUIS 91.9. WUIS airs Weekend Edition Sunday every Sunday from 8 to 10 a.m.
On Wednesday, September 19, Hansen will be the guest of honor at a luncheon from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in the Sangamon Auditorium lobby, Public Affairs Center at the University of Illinois at Springfield. Hansen will speak on "People, Puzzles, and Politics" and, with WUIS News Director Rich Bradley, will discuss memorable moments in her career as well as the challenges and joys of producing a weekly radio program. As the host of Weekend Edition Sunday for nearly two decades, Hansen has covered the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, the capture of Saddam Hussein, the death of Princess Diana, and the Columbia shuttle tragedy. She has also served stints on NPR programs Fresh Air and Performance Today and has provided the narration for a number of documentaries.
