The Council of the Women’s Center is made up of students, staff and faculty who serve three-year terms. The Council meets monthly during the academic year and holds a daylong retreat at Camp Widjiwagan annually.

Council projects include the Women’s Peace & Friendship Garden and the annual Naomi B. Lynn Award for Outstanding Contribution to Women at UIS.

The Women’s Center Council advises the Director and supports the work of the Center. The Women’s Center often deals with important and sometimes sensitive matters which require discussion and input from valued campus associates who are knowledgeable and concerned about issues which affect women’s academic and work environment on campus. This assistance from trusted and wise associates is invaluable.
