The Whitney M. Young Graduate Fellowship Program - Benefits

Fellows receive tuition waivers (12 hours per semester for fall and spring terms) and monthly stipends of $950 during the regular academic year (fall and spring semesters).  They may request a tuition waiver for up to 6 semester hours and one stipend of $950 during the summer term.  Fellows are entitled to a maximum of 30 hours of tuition waived during an academic year (fall, spring, and summer terms). Fellows who are in the accelerated MA programs should speak with the Director. All academic work for the master's degree must be completed within two years from the date of entry into the program. 

The application deadline is March 1 for students wishing to being the program the following academic year. Students who wish to apply must be admitted to a graduate degree program at UIS and must submit the completed application form for the Young program, three letters of recommendation dated within the last year, a statement of goals for graduate study, the essay as outlined on the application form, and a current resume.
